What will we ban next?

backpack

Maybe this is just my overreaction to a lot of the overreacting going on these days, but I guess we need to ban backpacks now.

Right?

Don’t take this as me being callous unless you’re just determined to do so. I want you to take this as me trying to shake things up a bit.

The bombing in Boston was awful. On that, I think we can all agree.

Do we as a nation want to continue blaming objects for true acts of insanity perpetrated on others?

I’m to blame for this next part as much as anyone else.

We as Americans need to stop being so self-absorbed and wake up. Our way of life is under constant attack and scrutiny by outsiders, and yes, occasionally a nut bag born on our soil.

Don’t you think it’s odd that in two separate locations people dropped off backpacks,in heavily crowded areas, and no one said anything?

I do.

Why can’t people stop worrying about offending others and confront them when they see something suspicious?

Part of it stems from being glued to our technology.

Put the phone/tablet down, wake up and start living America! There is more to life than what you can find on the Internet. Stop looking for some form of electronic engagement and start living.

If we can’t see that this obsession with technology is distracting us from everything around us, maybe we should ban that too.

About Todd Fuller

After a really long search, I found work that I feel is more relevant to my degree--technical writing. While it's not what I initially envisioned doing, it's actually been very enjoyable and rewarding work. I guess I feel like there is still more out there to do, so I've decided I will try the whole blogging thing again and resurrect this site. If anyone's still out there, enjoy and feel free to comment.

  1. The Gift of Fear. It should be required reading in High School. One of the best things I have learned from it is that it is okay to think like a criminal. I am safer the more I think like a criminal. I will see weaknesses in me and my life that might be exploited, thus I can fix them. Also if more people than just two were thinking like criminals that day in boston then yes someone might have seen a crime getting ready to happen. I love what I do in life because I get to be a criminal everyday and the man pays me for it. The only reason I don’t get arrested is because someone else already committed the crime.
