We’re all in this together

The Steubenville rape case may be one of the most infuriating things that I’ve read about recently.

These teenage football players are charged with “raping” a sixteen-year-old girl that can’t remember anything because she drank too heavily.

How is it that none of these freaking kids have parents that have a clue as to what their kids are doing? If convicted these two “rapist” will be sentenced to jail time until they are 21. Is that really justice?

How about we charge the parents of all parties involved with criminal negligence?

Maybe, if we held parents responsible for being adults and knowing what the hell was going on with their kids, things like parties with 16-year-old girls getting sloshed and raped wouldn’t happen. I seriously doubt that this was a quiet party, so how is it that the police were not called? Way to go neighbors!

People need to start being nosy again, and if something doesn’t seem or feel right then do something about it. Don’t wait until you read about it in the paper or online the following day, invest yourself in your community and involve yourself when you see a need.

About Todd Fuller

After a really long search, I found work that I feel is more relevant to my degree--technical writing. While it's not what I initially envisioned doing, it's actually been very enjoyable and rewarding work. I guess I feel like there is still more out there to do, so I've decided I will try the whole blogging thing again and resurrect this site. If anyone's still out there, enjoy and feel free to comment.
